Problem Statement
Every day millions of people require medical services in some capacity. However, there is no reliable and quick way of effective communicating patient information between medical practices, requiring patients to be the bridge to make sure their information reaches the correct hands. One of the critical (but important) barriers around this is protecting patients right to privacy through HIPAA. How could we use technology to help make communication easier between doctors and hospitals to take some of the stress from patients as well as remain within HIPAA regulations? More details

Problem Statement
Since the European Union began enforcing its General Data Protection Regulation laws, it has become clear that our lives are not as private as we assumed. Big companies like Google and Facebook have given us access to our own information thumbprints, and even smaller companies are gathering information on our daily lives at an incredible rate. While much of the data being collected is now available, it is not always transparent what is being done with that information. This raises a question we all must ask: do we fight for privacy and find ways to stay anonymous, or do we embrace the technologies that depend on this data? More details

Problem Statement
When it comes to project-based learning, often teachers have to spend a great deal of extra time and effort to create valuable learning experiences. Additionally, these projects can still sometimes feel like “school.” We are interested in making projects both more efficient for educators to run and more impactful for the students participating. What would it look like if students were free to work in the community on real-world challenges? Or empowered to work on their own personal passion projects? Or even to design and develop actual solutions to issues faced by local businesses? How then might we create new systems and opportunities for meaningful projects in schools? More details

Problem Statement
Our educational environments have a profound impact on the way that we see the world around us. The traditional education system hasn’t seen any radical change in over a century (teacher lecturing to students who sit in rows of chairs) We want to help students and educators come together to redesign the classroom experience to help facilitate student-teacher relationships, and encourage experiential, active learning. Technology has the opportunity to free up classroom time for more meaningful connections and experiences. Better classroom design has the ability to hugely impact student engagement and performance. How can we work at the intersection of technology, design, and the human experience to create a classroom environment better suited to helping students learn? More details
